LESSON 3.1

Solving Exponential Equations Without Log

Lesson Overview:

  • Changing standard form to exponential form

  • Using Exponential form to solve equations

Part A: Changing standard form to exponential functions

You can practice changing standard form to exponential form using these diagrams

Part B: Using Exponential form to Solve Equations

Here we solve a linear exponential function by changing standard form to exponential form. After getting the same base we can cancel them out and drop down the exponents. Finally, we solve the equation.

Examples:

Here we solve a quadratic exponential equation by changing standard form to exponential form then checking. After changing 2x to “a” we continue to solve as a quadratic equation.

SAT Testing of Rational Expressions and Equations

The correct answer is B because we can change 81 into 34 then cancel the bases and solve for the exponents. X=2

Real World Application of Rational Functions

Conclusion:

After this lesson, students should be able to predict the shape of rational functions by using sign diagrams. After their predictions, they should be able to graph the functions on graph paper by following the basic rules learned. These skills can be used to predict the graph of rational functions when given the equation as shown in the example above.

About Us

We have created ten easy to understand trigonometry lessons over 2 key areas to help you do well in math. With our lessons you will learn how, and when to graph Sin and Cos, how to extract them to a simpler level.  I will also be explaining the purpose of the main Angles and how they can be used in different types of problems. In addition I will be emphasizing how to do expressions and how relates to Trigonometry.
